The Book of Boba Fett - Final Thoughts.

Our thoughts on the Book of Boba Fett - Warning contains spoilers.

We were super excited for the Book of Boba Fett, especially after what really was excellent Star Wars content in The Mandalorian season 2.

We counted down the days to release date here at the Grid. The excitement and expectation was high!

The Book of Boba Fett had 7 episodes for us to enjoy and were released weekly.

Sadly we couldn't binge them all at once!

We did however watch each episode as soon as it was released on Disney + in order to beat the spoilers on Twitter.

Sadly the Book of Boba Fett was a bit of a mixed bag.

This wasn't the Boba Fett we all knew and loved from the original movie trilogy or even chapter 14 in The Mandalorian.

Somehow Boba felt distinctly weak and spoke far too much (a criticism Temuera Morrison shared himself in recent interviews).

The first episode was average at best. OK we thought, it's just building up the story it will get better.

I struggled with the fact that Disney are so keen on normalising the Sand People as misunderstood indigenous individuals. To me, they were always ruthless savages who attacked everyone. That's what made them interesting.

Episode 2 continued the adventures of Boba and the Sand People and in fairness was a bit more exciting with a good action sequence and exciting moments.

In Episode 3 however we were introduced to the infamous 'Power Rangers' - The Mods of Mos Espa. A speeder bike gang that were "enhanced" with droid parts and cockney London accents. Seriously who came up this sad bunch?

Aside from being the most out of place and ridiculous characters I've ever seen in Star Wars, this episode featured a chase scene that was down right laughable. The speeders and bikers chased each other around Mos Espa at an incredible speed of 2, yes 2 miles per hour.

I couldn't believe what I was watching. Honestly it was so silly.

It ended in a Back to the Future throwback where Biff (The Mayor) landed in dung.

Expectations dropped for Episode 4. We can't remember what happened in the episode, it was that boring.

Then The Book of Boba took an unexpected turn by becoming Season 2.5 of The Mandalorian in Episode 5.

That being said this was a fantastic episode which saw us returning to the story of Din Djarin (Mando) and the Darksaber. It was also pretty dark in the respect that we got some good hacking and slashing action with the Saber. Kudos Disney!

The hype train speed picked up with Episode 6 where we witnessed Mando again but also the return of our favourite little green buddy Grogu!

We even got Luke (not Jake) Skywalker and Ahsoka in one episode!

This was a really special treat of an episode.

Ok here we go, the finale!

Oh dear. Sadly this was the most underwhelming finale we've seen since The Rise of Skywalker. Robert Rodriguez (director) has been the weak link in this show as the poorest quality episodes were his.

It's a shame as his Mando episode in Season 2 was fantastic.

The Book of Boba Fett overall was a bit of a disappointment for us and I think most Star Wars fans.

IMDB sums up the episode scores pretty well we think:

We have so many questions after watching the show that will no doubt go unanswered unfortunately.

A few burning ones include what did Luke and Ahsoka say to each other (that's one heck of a conversation we need to see)?

Why has Grogu returned to the Mandalorian after all that effort to get him to Luke?

We're left wondering if Season 2 of The Mandalorian was all a bit pointless now following what's happened to Grogu and our beloved Boba Fett has turned into Beta Fett.

Cad Bane went out with a whimper and no one really cares that Cobb Vanth was in the tub.

Hip Hop music is now a thing in Star Wars and the Mod garbage couldn't be further out of place in the universe and lore.

The Book of Boba Fett was quite the disappointment. Roll on Kenobi - fingers crossed!
