The feel good movie of the decade.
We've been waiting patiently for 3 years to see this movie and boy did it not disappoint.
Top Gun: Maverick follows on from the legendary classic Top Gun from 1986 and continues
Lt Pete Mitchell's story almost 35 years later.
Top Gun was the film my Dad and I bonded over when I was a kid so to say we were excited for this is the biggest understatement ever.
We both love aircraft and Top Gun was always the go to movie for us to enjoy and celebrate kick ass dogfighting jet aircraft action.
The F-14 Tomcat of the original movie was just the coolest thing ever and many a video game hour was spent acting as Maverick, Goose, Viper and Ice-Man.
The hype for Top Gun: Maverick was insane.
Despite being the most delayed movie ever, I needed to book those tickets.
We finally got to see the movie on release day in the UK (26th of May) and it was well worth the wait.
Tom Cruise has once again given us a movie of a lifetime.
I was a bit wary that it may spoil the legacy of the first but I'm pleased to say it not only built upon it, but also exceeded its greatness.
Top Gun: Maverick combines the old and new in a way that would make Disney truly Blush. The young pilots are likeable, believable and cocky. Just how you would expect them to be.
The old characters remain true to their original style and the legacies continue nicely.
Maverick is as cool as ever and despite his limited success in the US Navy he still commands immense respect for his piloting skill.
It's this skill that lands Maverick the role of training these elite pilots to carry out an incredibly dangerous, special mission that will end an enormous threat from an enemy nation.
Top Gun: Maverick does an incredible job telling a simple yet impactful story.
You quickly find yourself growing attached to new characters like Penny (played by the ageless beauty that is Jennifer Connelly) and you get truly emotional watching reunions with old friends.
Top Gun: Maverick hits you right in the feels at stages and leaves you breathless and in awe in others.
The flight sequences are mind blowing, the choreography stunning. There is no green screen in this movie and every stunt is real, making you appreciate it even more.
If you're an aircraft nut like me then you'll love the variety of fighter jets we see and there are some really impressive Russian Jets in this that will shock you.
I need to know how they got these in the movie!
I'm delighted to say that Top Gun: Maverick is a perfect sequel and I wholeheartedly recommend you go and see it.
It does help if you have seen the original but the well woven flashbacks of the old days mean you can go see it if you haven't.
Top Gun: Maverick is hands down my favourite movie of the year. Maybe even the decade.
Going to the cinema with my Dad to see movie was a special occasion and he was very emotional in the end.
Thank you Tom Cruise for giving us this movie, it's moments like this that make life just that little bit better.
Top Gun: Maverick is a triumph. Go see it!
